Banks focusing on what customers want
July 2010
Rakesh Dua CEO, of Dua Group, recently joined a panel including Lord Heseltine and two other multi-million pound business owners at a conference for senior staff at the NatWest and RBS corporate bank. The panel were invited to provide insight into what business customers need from their banks in these challenging economic times.
Rakesh Dua – on behalf of the SME sector said: "Bank managers and business owners need an open and frank dialogue of where the business is, where it needs to go and the steps marked along the way to then work with the bank to provide the resources to achieve business success. SMEs will be embracing technology as a way to reduce costs and bank services will need to adapt to provide timely support."
The panellists, further responded to questions, such as what the customers views were since the banking crisis, what the bank needs to do to give the clients what they need and has Government ownership changed the Bank’s priorities.
Mark Spurin, Head of Risk, RBS business & commercial banking (who ran the session) commented: "Having valued customers such as Rakesh participate in our staff conference, and be prepared to ‘tell it as it is’ was hugely beneficial. The panel’s comments had a big impact on the day as we recognise we need to stay as close to our customers as possible to support them. Rakesh is an experienced businessman with clear views on the kind of relationship banks must foster with their customers to help them be successful. These views proved a valuable reference for the rest of the day’s presentations and undoubtedly influenced our discussion."
The Banks, especially NatWest and RBS are listening – how will this change the future for the SME Sector?
